Cafe Chez Emilie is the new coffeehouse in town so of course I had to stop by on my last trip to Matane and I was happy I did so. Chez Emilie is a beautifully decorated cafe, with a nice fireplace that gives it a cozy, laidback atmosphere. You can go for breakfast or later during the day to enjoy a light meal and a warm cup of good coffee. It might very well become my new favorite place to hang out in Matane!
Favorite Dish: I really liked my hot chocolate!
Cafe aux Delices has been around forever and is still going strong. Whether you want to go for breakfast to order fresh fruit pancakes, or to try their famous Chinese buffet for dinner, or for a late-night poutine, you won't be disappointed!
Favorite Dish: Poutine with barbecue gravy!
The Belle Plage's dining room offers a very good Table d'hote of regional cuisine. The dining room is located right above the beach, and its large windows make you feel as though you were eating in the middle of the St. Lawrence River!
The Hotel Belle Plage has been in operation for over 65 years and has welcomed people from all around the world, including some very famous guests. Just ask the staff and they'll be happy to tell you more about the Belle Plage's history.
Favorite Dish: You absolutely must try their smoked salmon!
When in Quebec, visitors must try our famous poutine (french fries, curd cheese and gravy) and when in Matane, they must try the famous shrimp poutine (french fries, curd cheese, shrimp and shrimp sauce) and Le Mini is the best place to do just that!
You can take out your food and eat it next to the lighthouse, just across the street from Le Mini.
Favorite Dish: It's also a good place to get ice cream!
