Le Loft, Montreal
My friends and I walked into the loft and instantly loved it. The rock room is a lot of fun, the bartenders are very nice and the techno room adds a little twist - definitely not your typical nightclub. But things turned sour when my friend Rick was involved in a mosh pit in the rock room. The bouncers basically dragged him out and threw him on the concrete, screaming at him in French. He was pretty badly bruised and cut up. When we went back to talk to the management they refused to come down, and the police officer we talked to on the street about it said he was pretty much powerless in this situation, and that that kind of thing happens all the time.
The Loft seems cool... until a bunch of muscly jerks ego trip and decide to ruin your night.
Dress Code: I wasn't wearing anything special and I just walked right in without paying cover... but I'm a girl, so I can do that...
The Loft is on corner of St-Laurent and Ste-Catherine downtown Montreal. It offers you 2 types of bar/dance floor. One side of the bar is rock, alternative and the other side is pop, dance and techno. It's lots of fun and secured. Not to expensive. There is a cover charge that varies depending on wich night you go. Drink are great, music is great and the staff fantastic.
Dress Code: City but no trashy!
Two rooms, one with alternative and punk music (with pool table and relax ambiance, perfect to drink) and the other with a large dance floor with great techno music.
Warehouse style club with large stairs.
Si vous voulez vous defoncer a fond, c'est la place pour rencontrer du monde et danser jusqu'au milieu de la nuit.
Dress Code: Like you want, majority of people are from universities and school so a nice jeans pants with a t-shirt is just perfect to dance.
If you are a bit younger ( I would say 18-20 ) This is a good spot to hang out with people that age. The crowd is very young. There are 2 rooms, 1 alternative and 1 dance. This is good because it allows to satisfy almost everyone. It is always difficult when people have different tases.
Dress Code: Casual. Pretty much how you like.
