Sona.: Sona: It's closed
Sona is now closed. It's pretty amazing how this afterhours could stay opened for so long...
I was there at the opening night long long time back and it was "the" place to be back then. The crowd varied but the DJ's kept the place alive and well throughout the years.
The promoters of the place are moving into a gigantic location which is described on their web site. Let's hope Montreal can fill it every weekend !

I recently went to Sona, an after hours in the downtown area of Montreal and had a lot of fun. Even though there is obviously quite a bit of drug use amongst the ravers there, if you have a lot of energy and are in a mood to dance the night (and the morning) away, I recommend going there.
Sona has three different rooms to dance in, the first had hip hop music, the second had more of a house sound to it, and the third was mostly techno. If you get there before 3 in the morning, you can order drinks, but the bar closes at three, so beware of the last call. The third room opens up around 2:30 and you are not allowed alcohol inside. In that room, it's pure heat, sweat, crazy dancing, trippy lights and typical ravers. There aren't nearly enough girl's bathrooms (as usual) so expect a line to go pee. And by the way, people banging in the bathrooms and guys going in our bathroom doesn't help the 15-20 minute line. Sona's best feature is definately the sinks: when you come in, you pass along a long counter with about 10 sinks, so finally you won't have to spend too much money on water bottles.
Dress Code: Dress as you like, rave wear is appropriate, but then again pyjamas also. I recommend wearing something light that you won't be too hot in.
Afterhour. Go there if 3 o'clock is still too early for you. Open until 10 in the morning.
Dress Code: Anyway you want, 'rave wear' is appropriate.
