St-Sulpice: THE Montreal Nightclub!
  • Tip Rating:
  • First of all, the biggest terasse in Montreal. Second, four floor, two central floor with a discotheque in the first level, relax in the fourth floor, jazzy in the second... For people between 18 to 30 years old. A lot of music choice (alternative/rock/hip-hop/soul/jazz/r&b). For all tastes.

Very relax, it's Montreal, you dont have to be dress like a star to have pleasure!

    St-Sulpice: Backyard Fun!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Located in the Quartier Latin (French Quarter) district, St-Sulpice is a 3 storey greystone house with a huge backyard. It is worth going just for the backyard! The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Great place to go with friends on any day of the week or time of the day. Its always packed but you can always find a table since it is so big. They have pool tables, pub food & good deals on beer. Its a good place to go for a casual Happy Hour. As for the crowd, you have a little bit of everything...university & college students from near by UQAM university and Cegep du Vieux-Montreal as well as people in their 30's. A nice place that is definately not snobby!

    Anything goes. Mostly casual.

    St-Sulpice: Saint Sulpice
  • Tip Rating:
  • This place was great! It had about 4 or 5 floors, and each floor was different; one was a dance club - one was for rock - one was a regular bar - a techno club - etc.... The bar we were at before this was pretty quiet, but Sulpice was hoppin'. The dancefloor was packed. If crowded, sweaty dancefloors aren't your thing, you can explore the other levels where you're sure to find something more to your liking. Check it out!

    St-Sulpice: Saint-Sulpice
  • Tip Rating:
  • Saint-Sulpice Its a very large, popular and fun bar with many dimensions built into it. On a hot summer evening, the backyard terrace will be packed with people and summer lights will abound (very pretty). You can eat and drink here, but there is a separate waitress for each of those so be advised. When the food waitress comes round, grab her attention! She doesn't come round often! The actual bar has several floors with porches attached. The top level inside has more of a jazz feeling to it, very dark and moody and often there are live jazz bands playing there. In the main level, there is top 40 music and a small small dance floor. Dancing is possible, but this is more of a sit down and socialize bar. Order the boreal rousse en fut.

    Casual attire.

    St-Sulpice: Le St-Sulpice
  • Tip Rating:
  • Le St-Sulpice is a great place during the summer. It has a huge terrasse out back and is usually packed. It's usually packed in winter too, and it can be fun, but you have to get there early if you want a table. I mean *early* (9ish).

    Relaxed

St-Sulpice: I used to go to Le St-Sulpice...
  • Tip Rating:
  • I used to go to Le St-Sulpice quite often. It's a great place to go in the summer, as it has an amazing terasse that seems to go on for ever in the back. Don't be mistaken, though, as big as that place is it's always packed in the summer. They check i.d. (legal age is 18) but there usually isn't a cover, unless you go dancing or there's a band. The St-Sulpice is in a huge, old house. It's one of the bigger, French-speaking bars, but anglophones don't be deterred; Montrealers love tourists. There are three stories, a basement and a huge terasse in the back that is always bursting full and decorated with white lights. Apparently they serve good nachos and fries. I miss it just thinking about it. Oh, and it's a great place to meet and check out people. That's fun there.

Anything goes, really. Anything. Don't really suggest anything club-y. Very laidback.

    St-Sulpice: A great hangout
A possible VT meeting never materialized, but I stopped in this place on a weekend night and it was hopping. Good beer and an enthusiastic crowd make for a good time.
