Promonade in Mont-royal
On the mount royal, Mon-royal park is one of the best parks in Montreal, actually the name of Montreal drives from Mont-royal, it is just 5 minutes from the downtown but once inside you totally forget that you are in a big city and from the top of the mount you can enjoy one of the best view of Montreal downtown with south shore and the east side with olympic stadium. Whatever for a picnic, with family or friends, or just walking alone, the park is always enjoyable but especially when the sun falls downm. A beautiful sunset!
Moun Royal Parc
Well its a city and you really cannot get of the beaten trac too much here. However in the middle of the city is this huge mount Royal Parc that is very nice.
There are trails that are very nice to walk on a day to step away from all the city trafic and sit and enjoy the breeze.
However oce you get to the Chateau there are hordes of tourists clicking pics.
On some trails you will see some joggers from time to time.

This might sound a little crazy, especially because it involves being up at like 5h30 a.m. but if you're up at that time, you might want to go check out the sunrise at the lookout in Westmount. To get there, you take The Boulevard 'till Chemin Belvédère and then you just keep on going up the mountain until you see a lookout. Remember to bring a camera. Try to keep your eyes open on the way up too, the houses are huge because this is the richest city on the island of Montreal.

I really advise to take a short and steppy walk to Mont Royal. From there you can take the most interesting pictures from Montreal and the St Lawrence
I advise to take the subway to Sherbrooke Station and walk to St Louis Square visitting interesting and coloured houses. Then go trough the Rue Prince Arthur full of interesting restaurants and pubs. Go North in theRue University to the Royal Hospital. Then go west by the Av. des Pins until you take a steppy path which climbs the Montroyal to the chalet. You can also visit the Lac des Castors.
This park is quite peaceful and big, and the people of Montreal has tried to preseve there some of the native species of plants and vegetables. Is like trying to grow up a wild forest in the middle of the city. Very interesting.
Feed the Squirrels and Enjoy the View
Mont-Royal is a great park where the squirrels run to you at the first crinkle of a corn nut bag. It has a great lookout point where you can survey the city.

Mont Royal seems to have a castors community up there! So maybe you will find some even on the Belvedere searching for food or in their natural environnement ;-)
