Whether you like it or not when the Formula 1 Grand Prix comes to town in June you can't hide from it! Even thou you didn't go see the race, downtown there are numerous activities you can take part in, especially on Crescent street. It's all about Ferrari, McLaren, Williams...If you wanna get a close view without paying for the tickets, Thursday before the race the Gilles Villeneuve circuit is open for everybody to go and see the cars in their pits.
And of course all of this has also its bad side: the prices of hotel rooms go waaaay up!

Le Grand Prix du Canada - Formula One, June 13-15, 2003
Yes, Montreal is on the World F1 map!!
And it's bringing a lot of people in town, lots of daugh being spent here.

We have a very big bias for Jacques Villeneuve, son of Gilles Villeneuve, born in a small town East of Montreal. A star for all quebecers.
He opened last year the Newtown (got it? Newtown... Villeneuve??), very expensive, though pretty good restaurent on Crescent.

As an American I guess going to Montreal is not that exotic. However, the weekend to go is in June when Formula 1 comes to Montreal for the Canadian grand Prix. The city is filled with fans from all over the world. Mainly France and Spain and the city comes alive that weekend.

Even the drivers note that after Monaco the best party of the year is in Montreal that weekend. You can buy tickets to all 3 days of racing or just single days. Or wait for the after parties that night. We met people from no less than 8 countries and the nitelife was better than what you have in New York.

Have dinner anytime you are in Montreal at Buena Notte on St. Laurant street. After dinner they clear the tables and it turns into a huge dance party. Or it does on that weekend!! A great time.
