Every visitor, tour bus, senior group, student field trip, boy scout troop, and young lover comes to Mont Royal. It's a quick, easy drive either at the beginning of your visit or at the end. The views are spectacular; one looking East over the St. Lawrence(pictured), and the other, peeking over the sleek high-rises of Downtown. You can also hike to the top from Downtown, or bus it from The Plateau.

Mont Royal is THE place to get an amazing view over this beautiful city. This picture is looking out onto the terrace of the Chalet du Mont-Royal which is open daily 9 am to 5pm. Take a look inside the chalet to see some interesting murals that depict various scenes from Canadian history.

If you are a bit of a hippy, or want to act like one for a day, then head up to the mont royal (the bump in the middle of downtown Montreal) on a sunday and look for a large crowd of people sitting around playing drums and ... well, chilling out. The air may smell like a certain leafy substance ya know what I mean...hehhe. So make sure to bring some pizza!
The Tams tams have been occoring on the mountain for a long time and its generally a good time of flaking out and relaxing in the sun.

Above the city- literally on the hill called Mont-Royal, is one of the most beautiful and expansive parks any city can boast.
Climb the trails, feel like you're in the middle of the woods, then look out at the cityscape. This is very well one of the best locations and designs for a city park. (Of course, topography is on Montréal's -and Mont-Royal's - side.

No visit to Montreal should be without a walk up Mount Royal!

While up on Mont-Royale, my wife and I enjoyed a stroll on Summit Circle around these very affluent streets! This is where the 'money' in Montreal lives and they have the views to prove it! There is a very nice nature park at the very top of this section of the mountain. In addition, there are walking trails through the woods that let you wander over the top of the peak, or you can take the circular walk around the street - it does not take very long!

Mont-Royal, a large hill situated right in the heart of the city. It consists of 494 acres of forest and paths. First, you must climb the stone staircase at the end of the parking lot and follow trails to the Chalet du Mont-Royal. Next, you're going to walk up a very steep staircase (please be in good health, it's a tough climb), and at the top will be the Chalet with an amazing overlook of the city and surrounding islands and river. Take a break, some pictures and then move along the trail to the 100ft steel cross that is the symbol of the city. Continue slowly around the mountain until you get back to the Chalet, then head back down. Should take you about 2 hours to complete. It's well worth the trek.

This statue guards the eastern entrance to the park along Avenue du Parc. You can take the Metro's Orange Line to the Mont Royal station and you'll be fairly close to this entrance. From the station you can hop on Bus 11 if you get a transfer (correspondance) before getting on the Metro or if you have purchased a tourist card which allows you to travel on all of the public transportation for a set time frame.

Mont Royal is basically a small mountain on the island of Montreal. It's a great spot to get an overall view of the city of Montreal. It has two observatories, where you can take great pictures of the city and the river of Saint Laurent.
It's also a beautiful park to walk around or ride a bike. During the winter, you can also bobslide or ice skate.
