Activity very interesting but expensive. Leave a Comment Directions: The rides start usually beside the Lac des Castors.

Another must-see in Montreal is the Lookout on Mount Royal. A few minutes walk from the parking lot gives you breathtaking view of the entire city. Last time I visited, they were shooting part of a movie there. If you walk a little further down the dirt path, you will come upon the cross. This is lit up at night and can be viewed by most of Montreal. The park was designed by Frederick Olmsted, the same designer of Central Park in NYC. Leave a Comment

Early French explorers found this city on the river and most notably the 'mountain' that sits behind it. It's not really a mountain, but rather an impressive hill that sports a park and many luxurious homes. I was surprised at home many famous and important people live up there. The word 'Montreal' comes from the French slurring together of Mont and Royal. Take a drive up there both in the daytime and at night. The view is spectacular. Leave a Comment

Every Sunday during the summer in Parc du Mont-Royal people gather with their bongos, didgeridoos and other instruments. It is a fabulous sight! Strangers all conversing through the language of music and dance. Leave a Comment Directions: Parc du Mont-Royal. Gathering is around a large monument/statue, which can be seen from the busy street.

Every visitor, tour bus, senior group, student field trip, boy scout troop, and young lover comes to Mont Royal. It's a quick, easy drive either at the beginning of your visit or at the end. The views are spectacular; one looking East over the St. Lawrence(pictured), and the other, peeking over the sleek high-rises of Downtown. You can also hike to the top from Downtown, or bus it from The Plateau. Leave a Comment

Go there (not alone) and enjoy the city view, by day or night, who like traditional dancing - Thursday night recommend (find out why)... Leave a Comment Address: Mont Royal

I apparently missed the photo op looking up at Mont-Royal from Rue Sainte-Catherine & McGill, but you can't miss seeing Mont-Royal as it's smack in the heart of town. It's worth a drive up to the center of the "mountain" for a walk out to the overlook and a peek inside the chalet at Mont-Royal Park. You can also take a 45-minute hike around the trails. Parking at the center (Maison Smith) is by ticket system - pay at a kiosk and put the timed ticket under your windshield. Signage is tricky - once you're at the traffic circle, bear right to park for the belvedere and chalet. There really isn't a sign that points it out. The cemetery is across the circle, and another overlook is to the east. Leave a Comment

I once spent an early spring night at the top of Mont-Royal. There wasn't much people, and the view over the city is incredible. There was also a storm approaching from the south shore, we could see all the lightnings, it was spectacular. A nice place to be in time and space. Leave a Comment Directions: Mont-Royal Station, walk west until you reach the moutain
