There is this wonderful outdoor theater in Parc Lafontaine. Nothing beats a beautiful summer evening attending a perfomance of Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal or Margie Gillis in the open air at the Théâtre de Verdure..and it's FREE! Other performances sponsered by the City of Montréal occur every summer at this venue as well. Line ups start early but the venue holds a surprising number of people. The benches are made of cement - so bring a pillow or sit on your sweater :-)
Plateau Mont-Royal's largest park, Parc Lafontaine is bounded by Sherbrooke, Papineau, Rachel and avenue du Parc-Lafontaine. There are waterfalls, a fountain, bike paths, playgrounds, statues, petanque, soccer & baseball fields, and picnic areas. The park is full of squirrels, ducks, swans, and beautiful maple & poplar trees.
