Ste-Catherine street, Montreal

I wasn't sure how to classify this, but they are so hard to miss that it warrants a discussion. This, of course, being the abundance of strip clubs on St. Catherine's street.

They seem to be everywhere and the signs are hilarious! There are some that are misspelled in English ('stripers') and others with neon signs flashing the movements of the woman dancing with men. The sign below is from a club right outside the entrance to the Underground shopping center. The neon flashes the hand movements of the man.

They do not seem to be particularly seedy places (at least during the day). But St. Catherine's is also a great shopping area, so it is a little weird to have so many strip clubs between all the high end shops and restaurants.

Fun Alternatives: St. Catherines has tons of shops and I wouldn't avoid it just because of the strip clubs. But another place for shopping/dining which is a little quieter is Blvd. St. Laurent.

Metaforia - located on Rue Ste Catherine. From the promotion outside I thought I was going to experience an IMAX-type movie about a fictional underground city, similar to Atlantis. I was in for a big surprise. It is more like a ride, like what you would find at a theme park. It was enjoyable, just not what I expected from the advertising. If you do go, try and go during a weekday as the prices are a little lower, it is quite expensive.
