 | Montreal Metro Reviews | Tips 61 - 70 of 116 | | The Montreal Metro is a wonder. A tickets costs $1.50CN for a single ride. The stations are clean, the trains clean and because of the rubber wheels, the trains are unbelievably quiet. Montreal has a complete underground city as well so during inclement weather, you can ride the metro, get out and see a movie, have dinner, shop without ever having to go to street level. The Montreal subway system can take you to places distant from one another, especially if you're not a person who likes to walk... I do, so I avoided riding the metro as much as I could and used it only once. I noticed it's quite clean, modern and apparently efficient. It's open till very late night and it's connected to the underground system of the city. The fee for a ride is $2.50 CAN. The price is the same for a bus ride, and there are buses running along the main avenues of the city, including up & downhill in Mont Royal. I think you can get a free transfer from one route to another, which you can use for a limited time after you've left the first bus and may not be used for the same route (return). The Montreal subway system has to be one of the best in North America. The trains are super fast, the stations and trains are very clean, and the system itself is very comprehensive (i.e.: you can get to anywhere within the city environs, and the outskirts). The rates are very fair. You may want to brush up on your Canadian French, however. The use of English in the Metro is virtually non-existent. Theme: Subway/Metro

The metro is a great way to get around Montreal, especially when the weather is bad. It will take you to or near almost every significant atttraction the city has to offer. It is known as one of the safest and cleanest in the world. Visitors can purchase a tourist card which grants them a one-day ($8) or three-day ($16) access to the public transit system at any of the three following metro stations: Berri-UQAM, Bonaventure and Peel. Some other stations sell the tourist card during the summer months. Leave a Comment

The metro system is in Montreal is very easy to use. Theres 3 main lines - blue, orange and green. If you are touring downtown, you will probably be sticking to the green and orange lines. Fares: I have never used the 3 day tourist card, but the six ticket strip is a good buy for a long weekend in Montreal. Hours of Operation: As great as it is to use, my only gripe is that it closes so early. It runs till about 12:30 am on weeknights and 1am on weekends. Yes, this is way before the bars close! If you will be out past those times, there are night buses. You can find these schedules on the website below. Leave a Comment

The most convenient way to get around is to take the subway as its cheap, convenient and safe. I mostly used the day pases that were 7/8 $. The service is not that frequent as other metros on weekends but its alright. However there are place where there is no Metro/Subway and you best choice is Walk to come to this city with sneakers and its easy to get around. I found it to be safe and easy to walk around. The subway (people here call it the metro) is one of the easiest ways to get around Montreal. It's not very expensive either. It can get crowded though, depending on the time of day. The subway lines are shown on maps in different colours (green, orange, blue, and yellow) and overlap at several stations (Snowdon, Jean-Talon, Berri-Uqam, and Lionel-Groulx) so it's easy to switch trains if you need to. Also, a tip if you're taking the metro on the blue line - that train is much shorter than the others (about half the length of the platform), so it's best to go right to the middle of the platform as soon as you hear it coming to be sure you can get in right away since either way, one of the ends of the train will be close to the middle. Otherwise, if you're on the wrong end of the platform, you'll have to run to the train and might not get in on time. Leave a Comment Theme: Subway/Metro

Use the public transportation in Montreal. The subway are very quick and it gives a lot of bus-stations in Montreal. Search in downtown to the little blue subway signs! Leave a Comment Theme: Subway/Metro
