La Fromagerie Le Détour is a cheese shop located along the Trans-Canada Highway in Notre-Dame-du-Lac, and it's a stop we make almost everytime we're going by.
What to buy: They make and sell a variety of cheeses, including raw milk cheese, soft cheeses with goat, sheep and cow milk. We stop to pick up cheese curd, but they also sell locally made beer, wine, jams, maple syrup, etc.
I usually also pick up a bottle of wheat beer called, La Geuze de Kamouraska, made by the Brasserie Breughel of St. Germain de Kamouraska, QC (www.breughel.com).
What to pay: At CAD$20. 00/kg, a 200-gram package of fresh curd will cost you $4.00. A 660 ml bottle of the wheat beer costs $ 4.95.Related to:
