THE PICTURE WAS TAKEN FROM OLD QUEBEC I. THE FAMOUS PLAINS OF ABRAHAM ARE BESIDE IT the Hotel.
Fondest memory: VIEWING THE ST. LAWRENCE RIVER FROM THE BOARDWALK. vISITING INSIDE THE HOTEL.
Visit the Chateau Frontenac (see photo) and the Terasse Dufferin just next to the Chateau which are definetely the first sights to see in Quebec. The Chateau was built as a hotel in the late 19th century by the General Manager of Canadian Pacific Railway.
The wide boardwalk of Terasse Dufferin has a panoramic view of the St. Lawrence River, the town of Lewis on the opposite shore and the Laurentian Mountains. The Terasse Dufferin leads to the Citadelle up the hill.
See the Chateau Frontenac which is an hotel. It is the result of a mix of a Scottish Manor and a Loire Valley Castle. It was built between the 1893 and 1923.
Erected on the Duferrin Terrasse, it is becomen the symbol of Quebec city.
Fondest memory: In the inner court, there is an engraved stone from the former Saint Louis Castle.
Favorite thing: You can see the Chateau Frontenac (Frontenac Castle) from almost everywhere in Quebec. There's no way you'll miss it. It's so gigantic, beautiful, and elegant that I couldn't stop taking pictures of it... A little bit like the Ponte Vecchio in Florence =P
Favorite thing: You can stay here starting at @$300/night. Or you can do what we did and have a drink and dessert on the terrace overlooking the river. At least go for a drink, I highly recommend it!!
Favorite thing: The 'Chateau Frontenac' is an imposing edifice on the bluff overlooking 'basse ville' -- if you have a lot of money you can stay there. We enjoyed the view of the river from their bar instead!
Favorite thing: The symbol of the city, the famous 'Chateau de Fontenac'. It's a hotel in fact but you can visit a part.
