Favorite thing: The streets and buildings of Old Quebec must be experienced because of their quaint European nature and the variety of cafes, shops and boutiques. This part of the city is divided into the Upper and Lower sections by a steep cliff that historically protected the citadel located above - and whose cannons controlled the passage of ships on the St. Lawrence River. Photo taken looking down into the Petit Champlain district of the Lower section as we descend from higher ground.

Fondest memory: Depending on your tolerance for fellow tourists (and don't kid yourself, if you're here you ARE a tourist!), you'll either love or hate this little street nestled between the cliff under the Château Frontenac and the Old Port. Fortunately, it's a pedestrian street, so you won't have to dodge cars as in the rest of the old city.

Favorite thing: Be sure to go to the 'Petit Champlain', which is the business part of the lower part of the old city near the port. You will find charming buildings, plenty of shopping [some very nice crafts, for example] and numerous interesting places to eat.

Favorite thing: Ride the little funicular up from 'Petit Champlain'-- as well as saving steps you get a nice view of the quarter and the St. Lawrence River.
Fondest memory: Looking down on 'Petit Champlain' and the river during the funicular ride.
