Visit the Old Church on THE PLACE ROYAL IN OLD QUEBEC
Fondest memory: We were there for a Summer Festival where most of the people were dressed in period costumes of the early 1800's.There was also a group who came by horse back from a couple of hundred niles away also dressed in period uniforms etc. The board walk was full of people and there were all types of entertainers, jugglers, acrobats, clowns and musicians. a great festival all over the down town area.
Favorite thing: Place Royale in Lower Town is full of quaint homes with beautiful details that you should not overlook. The slanted roofs, the rough stone walls, the flowered window boxes and the upper windows and chimneys create an atmosphere of timeless beauty.
Fondest memory: This is the site where Québec was founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1608. If you squint just a little -- and ignore the bust of Louis XIV, who isn't much commemorated in France these days -- you won't be sure whether you're in North America or Normandy.
