Favorite thing: You will hear a lot about the fact Quebec is a UNESCO World Heritage site. One of the main reasons for this designation is the significant portion of historic infrastructure that has been preserved.

But here in this picture you will see a monument. This is located just in front of the Chateau Frontenac in old Quebec and it represents Quebec joining the community of UNESCO world heritage sites.

Old Quebec: UNESCO World Heritage Site

Favorite thing: Old Quebec is one of the oldest cities in Canada. It was founded in the early 1700s, and even though it is a major tourist attraction now, it still has most of the old buildings and roads. It is the only city in North America that still has its original walls standing. One thing I remember, aside from all the beautiful architecture, were cannons from the 1700s up on the cliff. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
Although a lot of tourists visit Quebec City every year, it has managed to hold onto it's old world charm and beauty at the same time.

Favorite thing: Quebec is the only completely walled city in North America and certainly has one of its most charming historic districts, named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985. In 2008, the city will celebrate its 400th anniversary!
