    Charlevoix Region and Saguenay Fjord

If you are visiting Quebec City, it's worth to take a trip up the Charlevoix region towards the Saguenay Fjord. I got a lot of rain but anyway, the landscape was a beauty. Take a boat tour and try to catch a view of the whales that habitate the Saguenay Fjord.

    Baie Saint-Paul and Charlevoix
If you come to Québec province, you will first land in Montréal, then, I hope, reach Québec city by car or bus. Continue, just an hour, going east on the north shore. You will reach Baie Saint-Paul. This is a small village with the nice valley of a river coming out of the Laurentide's mountain, the Saint-Lawrence river, quite huge at this point, a nearby island, l'Isle-aux-Coudres. This is for sure the most romantic place I know of in Québec ! Many canadian painters used to spend time working in this region. One of them was Marc-Aurèle Fortin, well known in Québec, see joint picture. Nowadays, every august there is a painting's symposium there.

Whale watching in Tadoussac. It is possible to arrange for a one day excursion to go whale watching on the Saint Lawrence River. If you decide to take a Zodiac boat dress warm and in many layers. Wear a hooded rainjacket underneath your survival suit. The whales are gorgeous, I saw 2 belugas, some humpback whales and another type of whale which I can't remember.
