Parc Aquarium du Quebec
The Aquarium is a good place to spend a couple of hours, especially if you are interested in sealife. You have the opportunity to see specimens from as close as the St. Lawrence river all the way to the North Pole. My favorites were the spunky seals, the funny walruses, and the polar bears. There are couple of ineteractive displays where you can actually put your hand in the water and touch starfish and other creatures. Watch out, though, the water is very cold!
When you enter the park, they will give you a schedule for the day which shows the different activities going on. We got there just in time to see the polar bears being fed. Entrance fees for adults are $15.50. There is also a small gift shop and 3 restaurants.
Aquarium du Québec
The aquarium makes for a nice afternoon, especially with kids. It packs a lot of exhibits into a fairly small space, with a lot of creatures native to the cold water and weather of Canada, including local fish, walruses, a pair of polar bears, and local and arctic seals. The walruses, bears, and seals are in outside enclosures, with glass walls to allow underwater watching in places; and for a while in winter, at night the outside spaces are decorated with lights, outside games, and an ice bar for the grownups.
Inside, the highlight is a 5-story, 350,000 litre tank with a tunnel at the bottom; the rest is full of tanks from all kinds of water environments, and an extensive touch pool. Renovations in 2006 increased exhibit space, and a new building, slated to open in fall, 2011, will house tropical fish, jellyfish, seahorses, and a ray petting pool, so it's still getting bigger.
The snack bar is about what you'd expect, as is the gift shop. I didn't try the restaurant, but it looked like there was a nice view of the river and the bridge. If you have the time, the aquarium also offers activities like “Animal Keeper for a Day,” and sleepovers.
The Quebec Aquarium
The Quebec aquarium is not exceptionally large aquarium but it does make for a nice visit. The aquarium houses polar bears, walrus, and seals along with a huge array of fish. included is an impressively large tank in which a walkway has been constructed along the bottom to allow you to see the fish from belowsurrounded in the habitat.
Quebec City Aquarium
So I was hyped for this, because I have a habit of going to the aquariums in every city I visit. This one had a beautiful layout but not very exciting. The aquariums themselves had local fish which weren't that thrilling. The seals, walrus, and polar bear were worth it though. The garden set-up was pretty, and there was on-hand touching of starfish. Not my best aquarium experience, but fun for the kids, and those who love animals and marine life.
If you like animals, and especially if you travel with kids, the Aquarium is a nice place to visit.
You'll see a walrus, various seals, polar bears, and loads of fishes and other species!!!!
You can also buy a package at a special price to visit the aquarium and the zoo.
