This beach in Waskesiu is lovely. It's clean, has washroom and litter facilities, and is in the middle of Prince Albert National Park!
In the summer, I'm told it get really busy. I enjoyed walking along the sand (even though it was October and windy and cold!). I could see the snow coming in over the lake and the changing colours of the fall leaves on the surrounding trees.
There are information boards to read for your safety and a children's play area close by.
No dogs or alcohol allowed on the beach.
You don't have to search very hard to find the local wildlife.
There are all kinds of birds in the sky, deer seeing what's going on and prairie chickens running around!
It's important to remember when driving around Waskesiu and the rest of the National Park, that deer are rarely on their own, so if one is by the road - watch out for the others.
The chickens also enjoying running in the roads!
On this lake you can sail your boats. There is a fee which I am told is $20.
The surroundings are beautiful. The lake is surrounded by trees, it has a beach and walks to go on. You can freely walk around Waskesiu and enjoy the wildlife and socialise with everybody else having fun in Waskesiu!
The menu offered starters, snacks, salads, soups, main dinners and desserts. Within our group of six, we ordered chicken strips, fish dishes, salads and a soup. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The only critisim I have is that the fries were far too salty; to the point that not one person in the group finished them.
The restaurant itself is light and spacious. You are asked to seat yourself or wait to be seated depending on how busy the restaurant is. You are served at your table.
If you get a window seat, the view is very nice. You can see deer, the lake through the trees and in peak season, people watch.
Our view weather wise, consisted of beautiful sunshine, then within 10 minutes - SNOW! We were here in October though!
There are pieces of eye-catching art on some of the walls which is for sale.
Favorite Dish: The plum sauce that accompanied my chicken strips was amazing! It was really tasty and not something I thought I would enjoy - I ate the lot!!!
There are many restaurants at Waskesiu Lake. I don't remember the name of this particular one, but it was close to the Waskesiu Golf Course. We ordered lunch and enjoyed the view around.
The shops in Waskesiu have everything you could need while you are on vacation/holiday. There is a bakery, general food shops, a deli, liquor store, restaurants, cafe and pharmacy.
What to pay: Everything in these shops are more expensive than what you would pay in a town or city. These are convenience shops.
