Saskatchewan's Provincal Flower

by Shara.Buchan

Saskatchewan's Provincal Flower is the orange-red lily (Lilium philadelphicum L. var. Andinum), also known as the prairie lily. It was officially adopted in 1941. The suggestion was made by the Saskatchewan Natural History Society to a special committee that had been set up to consider the matter. In 1945 the prairie chicken, or sharp-tailed grouse, was declared a provincial emblem. The association of animal emblems, with other provinces (e.g., the bison or buffalo in Manitoba) is usually the result of these animals appearing on the provincial coat of arms.

by Shara.Buchan

Alberta's Provincal Flower is the Wild Rose (Rosa acicularis). It was officially adopted in 1930. The Women's Institutes took up and passed on to the Department of Education a suggestion by the editor of an Edmonton newspaper that a provincial floral emblem should be selected. The final choice was made by the schoolchildren of the province.

Pemberton Trail Steakhouse: Pemberton Trail Steakhouse

This is a very busy restaurant for such a small town. Get there early if you want the prime rib - it goes fast. Prices are very reasonable and they have a great wine list. Prime Rib - absolutely the best in the Sea to Sky corridor of BC

No favorites.. never could get help finding a good thai restaurant and getting help with locations. Only thing that happened was I got worn out lol.We went to a restaurant on Hornby and Hastings called Mooses Down Under. Food was ok but nothing spectacular. However, the waitress was really nice. In Burnaby there was a place called Malones which does fusion food and they were really good with HUGE portions. Pretty live crowd Malones makes their own pizzas in a brick oven. My favorite thing they had was a thai salad. Not spicy at all but very tasty. My daughter had chicken strips and the sauce they gave was like a honey mustard but had some horseradish in it and that was delicious. We went there twice and came out very stuffed.

Friendly policy regarding customers in socks! Decor on the walls is great: signed pictures, awards, interesting newspaper articles, and their sweet pastries and muffins are divine. Breakfast in a Bun! Bacon, egg, tomato, sausage, all in a gorgeous sesame seed bap. Keeps you going all day.

Blue Water Cafe: Blue Water Cafe

by malhk

Both meat and seafood in the same place, and both superbly prepared. Pretty well everything was wonderful, but the sushi was extra special - it's Pacific fusion-ish rather than classic Japanese and is made by 2 chefs behind a counter in full view of everyone. And try the 5 year old mature cheddar.
