Highway 40 crosses the spectacular Kananaskis Country. Whether you're driving from north to south or opposite direction I can highly recommend to stop by at the Highwood Pass which is the highest road pass in Canada with an altitude of 2206 metres according the road sign (picture 1). Other sources mention 2225 and 2227 metres. During this beautiful and not too long drive many animals can be spotted beside (picture 2) or even in the middle of the road. If you don't wanna stop by by yourself they will probably force you into taking a few minute break:)
