Mountaineering
The Canadian Rocky Mountains are fantastic for climbing. Great ice climbing. Great mixed climbing. Great rock climbing, but the rock can be a little loose. Great ski mountaineering. Beautiful scenery.

It's Canada's 2nd official sport. We're hockey crazed Canadians, especially during the long winters when it's usually too cold to do anything else!If you're in the country anytime from October to April, you could catch an NHL game in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver. However, you don't need to be in big cities to catch a game. All over the country, in all towns and cities, there are hockey games all the time...guaranteed!!

To me it looked like the water was a tad cold, but i sawa few brave people canoing on Lake Louise. It looked extremely peaceful hence i'm recommending it here.I felt at epace watching light impact canoes on the Glacial lake. I think you can hire the canoes over there, without much difficulty. Thanks to tourism!I'm not sure if they had helmuts, but with a lake as peaceful as Louise, I'm not sure if its even necessary.

There are many National Parcs in Canada and for a little money you can set up camp for the night. Just be aware of wildlife and come prepared! One day I hope to have the courage to go hiking myself!

"The Chief" is a gigantic granite monolith that overlooks Squamish BC., a little town North of Vancouver nestled at the mouth of the Squamish River in Howe Sound. The town has mostly served as a based of operations for logging companies and Howe sound is evidence to this as it is filled with tree logs tied together to form barges. But these days it seems adventure sports are fueling the local economy more and more. So, back to the hiking the Chief. If you're a rock climber, you're route is simply straight up the nearly vertical granite face that has made the mountain an international superstar. But if you prefer a less dangerous way, there are a few roundtrip hiking trails that led you up the backside of the Chief to its summit, sort of like sneaking up on it. Depending on which route you pick, you're hike to the summit can be a healthy 4 to 7 kilometers. Once on top, the view of Howe...

This is a great way to explore the woods and back roads.A fun sport with a group of freinds camping along the way.The fall is a perfect time to explore the colors and wildlife.Be careful a deer or partridge might fly up out of the brush.. Jeans, good boots or shoes and protective glasses for flying brush.

Many of our farms have horses. There are a few clubs with shows throughout the summer.Horses of choice are the Arabian and Quarter horse. Some owners offer trail rides. A good butt, proper clothing and riding boots.

Snowmobiling through the forests is a very popular winter recreation. There are groomed snowmobile trails throughout the area. Many travel across the frozen lakes to their cabins for a winter retreat.Lodges will stay open in winter to accomodate the passer -byers stopping overnight or just for a beer or meal. There are races throughout the season. warm clothes, boots and a snowmobile plua a travel companion.

Fishing and hunting are the most popular summer and fall sports. In the winter there are ice fishing contests .The lakes are covered with ice huts in the bays.Walleye, croppie and small mouth bass are plentiful in the lakes.Hunting -in autumn--moose,deer,canada goose, ducks, and bear. Boat-canoe,fishing gear, registered gun for hunting, compass, appropriate clothing ,maps, and good legs if your hunting.A fishing and hunting license are required.

Since the early 1900's our town #1 activity in the winter is hockey. Our children begin to skate almost as soon as they walk. There is a huge inside ice arena In our town. There are many outdoor rinks-either the frozen lake , river or backyard rinks made by fathers. My own dad was an Allan Cup winner 1952,travelled all over America just as many of our young do now. This sport includes male & female teams-adults &children. ice skates. hockey stick, puck ,warm hockey clothing.knee pads & head helmet.
