The Canadian Government designate sites across the country as National Historic Sites because of thier historical significance. Battle Harbour is a National Historic District because the entire community is restored to its original state. Battle Harbour is located on in eastern Canada. It was one time the captial of Labrador and the harbour would be filled with fishing schooners.Today the island is restored, its an amazing restoration. The accomodations on the island are authentic and there is interpretation right in some of the bedrooms for example.I have a special page dedicated to this historic location. Explore around and if you get to this destination you won't be disappointed.Enroute to Battle Harbour there are plenty of other sites and during my last visit ample whales to see and mammoth ice bergs. No kidding around here, its not touristy, its authentic and the people operating...

Sticking with my rural theme for now, I highly recommend St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador as a must see activity!Newfoundland and Labrador is Canada's most easterly province and St. John's is the capital of the province. You will enjoy good times on George Street, plenty of history, culture and unsurpassed hospitality!!It is a real Atlantic feeling and the people are really friendly in this part of Canada. This city is also one of the oldest in North America!I get to this city a lot and know it fairly well. I have dedicated a special page to St. John's so you can follow my link below :-).Happy Travels!

Here is the Canadian proof that I have gotten from Coast to Coast now in Canada. Vancouver is literally one of the world's greatest cities. You will be struck by the scenery, being in a nice temperature with the snow cap mountains in the background and the pacific ocean and beaches in front of you.Home to the famous Stanley Park, Vancouver Canucks hockey, Granville Island, numerous beaches include the nudist Wreck Beach, hehehe.China Town, Gas Town, on the ugly side Canada's poorest street (East Hastings), Robson Street shopping, Grouse Mountain, proximity to Victoria and Whistler. This is just an all round great city in Canada and the world. I feel in love with this place and hope to get back there as often as I can in my lifetime!

Montreal is another great Canadian city. Hockey is like a religion here, the Canadiens aka Habs are beloved in this city and it is a serious sport!!Montreal has a very high french speaking populuation, home to the famous smoked meat sandwich, great shopping on St. Catherines and St. Denis!Museums, the old port and fashion statement central in Canada :-) This is one of my favorite cities for sure, for a number of reasons! The international influences are also strong here in Montreal.I have a special page dedicated to this great city. I hope you enjoy it.

Ottawa is the national capital of Canada. Some say Canadian politics is a little boring but I find it challenging enough for my liking. You gotta love those same sex marriage debates, legalizing marijuana, and the list goes on. Canada is a very liberal country!Ottawa as a city is famous for the parliament buildings, the Rideau Canal, endless outdoor activities, buskers, tulip festivals and internationl ice sculptures.Ottawa is a great city in the winter and summer, I have enjoyed ever visit so far and home to explore more of ever chance I get!I have a special page dedicated to this great city. I hope you enjoy it! Just follow the link below.

Nunatsiavut, Labrador in 2004 is Canada's newest land claim area; claimed by the aboriginal Inuit people. This agreement will now put the Labrador Inuit in charge of these lands. If your in search of a remote destination, adventure and aboriginal culture. Great fishing, Inuit carvings and the list goes on, the region of Canada is worth checking into.I have a link to my Nain, Labrador page. Nain Labrador is the largest community in Nunatsiavut. This is a unique part of Canada that awaits you. Look at the amazing scenery I was able to catch of the region on summer!

Right and bowhead whales, once plentiful in the waters of coastal Labrador, attracted whalers from the Basque country (northern Spain and southern France) during the 16th century. A thriving industry based on the production of whale oil for export to Europe developed along the Labrador coast during the mid to late 1500s. The busiest port for this historic enterprise was the sheltered harbour of Red Bay.Today the National government has designated the site in Red Bay as a National Historic Site.Extensive archelogical work has been done, modern interpretation centers, 1000s of authentic artifacts, tours, etcetera. The site is extensive and if you have an interest in this history it is a great choice. If you are from Spain's Basque Country it will also be of keen interest. It is located in the Labrador Straits region as well with many other touring opportunities. I have a link provided to my...

I know a lot of people enjoy exploring and climbing lighthouses! Well Canada's east and west coasts have many different lighthouses of different heights. In my travel tip I have provided a picture of the tallest one in Atlantic Canada at Point Amour, Labrador. Many of the lighthouses in Canada are now automated so I don't know if there are anymore authentic lighthouse keepers and a lot of the lighthouses don't offer much to see anymore really.I provided this one because I think its an exception. The province of Newfoundland and Labrador has designated this lighthouse a Provinical Historic Site. It is staffed in the summer tourism season, there is interpretation and it is a fabulous place overall. So if you want to see a lighthouse, go for the best and aim for this one! Cheers! It's a long way to the top too :-)

If you are into wildlife and zoos that type of thing the Vancouver is arguable the best in the country and probably an par with the best aquariums around the world. You can spend a lot of time in this place, everything from anacondas, beluga whales, dolphines, beavers, otters, sharkes and really a whole lot more. So if you think this is the type of think that might highlight your trip to Canada maybe Vancouver is for you. But in an event I would suggest it is one of Canada's Must See Activities.
