If you have time, then definitely drive around Canada. Unfortunately, because it's so big, to see all the different cultures in a short time really requires flying. If you have to fly, then fly with Tango or Westjet. This are low-cost carriers, and are pretty competitive.. Don't even try using Air Canada: for some reason, every flight I ever try and book is in the $1000 range..

Despite it's vast size, Canada is one of the most accessible nations on the planet. It's very easy to get a visa to enter Canada and we have embassies and consulates in many countries worldwide.Air travel: Most major airlines have destinations in major cities like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg.Rail Travel: Via Rail crosses the full width of Canada with spectacular scenery on all sides. It's a great way for a relaxing trip across the country.Bus: Major bus lines such as Greyhound have excellent service across the country. There are also hundreds of charter buslines as well. The busses are clean, comfortable and have onboard restrooms.Ship: Major seaports have cruises originating in Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax and St. John's. You won't see many of these country grain elevators any more. This was photographed at Huxley, Alberta. The elevators in this picture,...

Personally, I think the best way to get to Nova Scotia from America is by traveling to Maine, then taking the Cat (or catamaran.) It would normally take about a day to get there from Maine, but with this new boat it takes about 3 hours. It's a real easy ride, too. Nice gift shops, a free movie... not bad.Just take the car, man. You can drive it on the boat then drive around the city. Just make sure your car doesn't suck like mine did and break down in the middle of nowhere.

by disneegrl4ev

We did not rent a car so we had to rely on bus, skytrain, and taxi. I had a very hard time getting help trying to locate a bus depot in Burnaby because they are doing alot of roadwork. The sky train station closest to me is not scheduled to open till August so we had a really rough time. At no time did I find a bus schedule, or skytrain schedule showing stops and where they went to. Nor did I get any help with transfers. It wasnt till we were there 3 days before I was able to figure out where I needed to go. So we basically had to spend a fortune in taxi services. I used a taxi company called Bonny's taxi out of Burnaby and my driver name was AJ. He was great and a big help. He gave me his mobile number and told me to call him anytime. Which I did. He was a lifesaver and got me to my locations for the tours right on time. They also have taxis outside of the airport. 406-435-6655....

I've always driven into Canada, but you can obviously fly into any number of cities. Just a few of the major ones that come to mind are Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver.I'm sure there's a bus system in Canada, much like Greyhound in the US. There's VIA Train, which traverses the length of the country and will most likely take you through some magnificent scenery, especially around the Alberta/British Columbia border.Car is the way I traveled. The roads and signs are very similar to those of the United States, but realize that there are more undeveloped areas in Canada, so finding roadside services late at night may not be an option. Also, speed is given in km/hr, not mph, but most cars have those numbers on the spedometer too.

by hofma

Vancouver may be small when compared to New York or even San Francisco, but it still take time to explore You can see a lot of the city in two days, but a day or two more wll give you time to explore sights in the larger Vancouver area and the surrounding countryside. If you are shopaholic, coffee junkie, and/or people-watcher, begin your tour of Vancouver on Robson street 1, also referred to as Vancouver,s Rodeo Drive because of the sheer number of see-and-be-seen sidewald cafes and high-end boutiques.Warnings or Dangers: If you have read other warnings about Vancouver, you've probably read about the severe area of town known as the Downtown Eastside. The area around Main and Hastings Street is notorious for drugs, crime, and unsavoury characters. In fact, the neighbour (more)
