  • There are lots. The plane coming into land in LA gives a great impression as you fly over the freeways, buildings etc. Walk of fame in Hollywood , Calif . The gates of Disneyland in California against the beautiful mountains ( Sierra Nevada ), South rim of Grand Canyon, The Alamo , San Antonio , Texas ( and the Riverwalk ) , Coconut Grove in Miami, Sea World in Florida, statue of liberty New York City, the list goes on . There is so much to see and enjoy .

Lots . Warmth and friendliness of American people, the energy of the place, wide open spaces . Good food too ! Top of Empire State building at night takes some beating, as does Windows on World restaurant at dusk in World Trade Centre, NY. There's just so much .

visit Toronto, Canada. Ottawa is Canada’s capital, but Toronto is the epicenter of the country’s financial and commercial live. It is North America’s fourth largest city. Despite its great size, it’s a livable city, with clean and safe public spaces, lakeside amenities, and shopping and entertainment opportunities.

  • Texas has a little bit of everything. In the east there are piney woods which give way to wild flower fields on the plains. On the gulf coast there are long beaches with gentle waves and warm sunshine. On the way west there is the hill country with it's beautiful bluebonnets blooming in the spring. And in the west there is the Texas of the movies. Sometimes dusty, always full of American History. Cowboys still work cattle the old fashioned way-on horseback.
You can enjoy bratwurst in New Braunfels, giant steaks in Amarillo, BBQ anywhere, seafood galveston, and fajitas in San Antonio.
When in Texas you must visit San Antonio and the Alamo. San Antonio is one of my favorite cities anywhere. The Riverwalk is romantic. Do dine under the stars on the Paseo del Rio! In the daylight you can shop 'til you drop or take a leisurely boat ride on the river to learn of the history of this historic city.

My next favorite city is New Orleans. The food! The atmoshphere! The history! Don't leave without a bowl of gumbo and a shrimp or oyster po boy(sandwich) on fresh baked bread. Be a little daring-try the boiled crawfish. Make mine extra spicey, please.
For fun try taking a Haunted History Tour of the French Quarter-at night. If you dare.

One of my favorite memories is of all the many breakfasts my Mom cooked outdoors while camping. For some reason food tastes better cooked outside. I can still remember the crispness of mountain air and the mouthwatering smell of bacon frying in her cast iron skillet. To this day whenever my husband and I go camping I repeat that ritual and remember...

I have been to the US a couple of times. I made an absolute fantastic roundtrip in the Western part of the US. I went to San Fransisco, Yosemite, Sequoia, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Arches, Bryce, Yellowstone, Monument Valley and lots and lots more. It was a fabulous trip that I can recommend to anyone. The nature here is spectacular! I also went to Florida, to enjoy some sunshine, and made a quick visit to Maine and New Hampshire.

You can read more about these trips on my USA page

  • On the East Coast: Visit Manhattan. Do all the touristy things such as riding the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, do the Circle Line tour your first afternoon in town to get a feel for the layout of the City, see a couple of Broadway shows, check out the Frick Museum (my particular favorite!), and go to the top of the Empire State Building.

Since I have been asked about the Frick, let me pass on a bit more information. The Frick Museum is contained within the mansion belonging to Henry Clay Frick, one of the steel tycoons of the late 1800s. He was an enthusiastic art collector along the lines of J. Pierpont Morgan and Andrew Carnegie. The art collection was continued by his daughter and the foundation established after his death. His art collection is diverse. It is for the artwork alone that I found absolutely intriguing and enjoyable. He has art by Corot, Romney, Millet, Rembrandt, Monet, Turner, Vermeer, Lawrence, Reynolds, Cuyp, El Greco, Raeburn, Titian, Hals, Van Dyck, Constable, Vermeer, Gainsborough, Renoir, the list goes on and on. My favorite painting is the one of Sir Thomas More by Hans Holbein the Younger. The color just leaps off the canvas at you. Absolutely brilliant art collection.

On the West Coast: Visit San Francisco and Los Angeles. In SF you MUST walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Just be forewarned that depending on what time of year you go there you might have fog. Ride the cable cars, buy some chocolate at Ghirardelli Square, check out Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, eat at the Cliff House restaurant. In LA, spend a day at the Santa Monica Pier and Venice beach, go to Hollywood, spend the day at Disneyland, go to the Huntington Museum (my favorite museum in CA), shop on Rodeo Drive.

Visiting historic sites in the country. Some of my favorites are Old Deerfield in western Massachusetts, Old Sturbridge Village in southern Massachusetts, and the Museum of Frontier Culture in Staunton, Virginia. I love learning how people used to live and visiting these living villages are one of the best ways to learn. I never fail to have fun at these types of places.
