If you are visiting North...

by natytek

If you are visiting North America don't miss any opportunity to visit Toronto. I went there 2 years ago and plan on going back this summer. It is a very interesting city. I spent only a week last time, hopefully this trip will be longer. Going there near the end of the summer could mean good weather. But Toronto is (if at all) the best kept secret in America. What I miss most is the traveling. In North America road trips are fun especially when driving on the interstate highways. Iowa is a scenic place to drive through as it is miles and miles of cornfields. My best memory for the moment is probably my short stay in Iowa. Although there aren't large cities, it is a nice place for the soul wearied by the computer age.

I believe that driving is the best way to see any state of the USA. When in the southwest, it is very important to check out the natural wonders. For example, see White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe, Shiprock, Meteor Crater, Monument Valley, and of course...the Grand Canyon. The greatest aspect of driving is being able to see off-the-road sites...such as Billy the Kid's gravesite, Mexican Hat, Three Rivers site, and the Very Large Array Telescopes. The natural beauty and wide open spaces are breath-taking. I drove for hours and saw very few autos and people. The solitude of the road and the wide open sky is a welcome for anyone from the city.

by 1golfnut

Hi! After reading the question they want me to answer, I'd suggest thatno golfer would want to miss Pebble Beach in Monterey, CA. The price is steep but worth it. If you can't get to Pebble, three other courses come to mind: Torrey Pines in San Diego; Pinehurst in North Carolina; and Harbortown, on Hilton Head Island, SC.I live in Southern Maryland, at the confluence where the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay meet. Maryland is a beautiful state, from Deep Creek Lake on the west end of the state, to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, to Ocean City. My lovely girlfriend Jenny owns a beach front condo there, and going there is wonderful. It's a different pace of life and we love it! Wow, that's a tough question. I enjoy the east coast of the US, but I think some of the prettiest real estate in the world would have to be along 17- Mile Drive in Monterey, home of Pebble Beach golf links. It is...

A must see is Grand Canyon....

by sharine

A must see is Grand Canyon. One of the natural wonders of the world the view is one you can easly spend several rolls of film upon. If you have the time and the money you can rides mules(or is that donkeys) down to the bottom of the canyon or even take a helicopter ride. I myself have enjoyed a luncheon sitting at one of the viewing area's, usually one I packed myself since I am a bit frugral. It is -very- hot in the summer. There are quite a few websites on the Grand Canyon so do check them out and I am sure they give prices for lodgeing and such. I myself used it as a stopping place while traveling elsewhere - a good place to stop and spend a few hours relaxing. One of my fondest memorys is of visiting the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Its a natural formation of rocks that are laid out much like a smaller rock garden is, but of course on a much larger scale. Its a...

It's a must to take the free bus from Harrahs to the Rio to see the Carnival in the Sky.Every one talks about the shopping at Ceasars but my favorite place to shop is at the Alladin. My fondest memory was on our first trip to Vegas waking up on the first morning to find hundreds of nickles we had won the night before, playing the slots and drinking free beer.

On the East Coast: Visit Manhattan. Do all the touristy things such as riding the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, do the Circle Line tour your first afternoon in town to get a feel for the layout of the City, see a couple of Broadway shows, check out the Frick Museum (my particular favorite!), and go to the top of the Empire State Building. Since I have been asked about the Frick, let me pass on a bit more information. The Frick Museum is contained within the mansion belonging to Henry Clay Frick, one of the steel tycoons of the late 1800s. He was an enthusiastic art collector along the lines of J. Pierpont Morgan and Andrew Carnegie. The art collection was continued by his daughter and the foundation established after his death. His art collection is diverse. It is for the artwork alone that I found absolutely intriguing and enjoyable. He has art by Corot, Romney, Millet, Rembrandt,...

You have to go to the top of the Empire State Building just as the sun is going down and see the city light up. The Chrysler Building is so beautiful and the tower blocks glow in the pink sunset. The best breakfast I have ever had was in Lindy's in Times Square. The waitress was a real charecter and the service and coffee was excellent. Watching the people outside was better than any movie I have seen to date!

by Ricardo_J_M

There are many sites to see. Depending on your hobbies and taste I am sure you will find something. As I drove into the city on September 11, 2001 I was about 10 miles outside and I heard on the radio that a plane had it the WTC. I was shocked and thought it a twisted remark by the host. I changed the station to an all news talk station and it was true. I made it to work, but little was done that day. I will never forget the feelings that were going through me.
