Ilulissat is beyond the arctic circle, so for most of the summer there will be very light nights and for some weeks, midnight sun.
Any mountain or hillock near Ilulissat would do for a night hike to see the Icefjord and Disko Bay and Disko Island in the beautiful tones of the low night sun.

Believe it or not they have a nice restaurant there according to friends who live there now. A great wine list and great food.
However, this chapel was underneath the ice cap when I was there. Everything was made of ice. The formal white table was sawed from ice, the candle holders were hand-rubbed ice. It was an awesome site to behold. Unfortunately, we abandoned this site.

You will notice how the sides of the wall are scoured? This was a continual process to prevent the ice flow for overcoming the site.

Dress code is much like you would find in most places here (only warmer) :-)

In the summer it's never dark so you need to improvise! Scientists work in trenches 15-20 feet undergroud where they are protected from the elements.

There is only one there.......the TOW club. (Top of the World). On wendsday nights there is bingo. DOn't knock it. I won $50.00 amercian.

Clean pants and shirt. Sometimes they have fancy fuctions to break up the routine so you might need a collared shirt.

Theme: Dancing

Directions: Just tell the driver where you want to go. If your lost on foot you might suffer frostbite......so don't be a hero and use the buddy system on your way back from the club.
