It is very useful to bring a map of places where the tourist offices are few and far between. Maps give a lot of information deepening you knowledge about where you are. Right on the spot maps may not be available, so buy at Copenhagen, Kangerlussuaq or in the more visited Greenland towns before you head out into the great unknown. The enclosed photo shows the published and the soon-to-be-published maps of Greenland. In addition there are some hiking maps and local town and sourroudings maps as well. Leave a Comment

by bdbrewer Most people do not take the time to visit with the eskimos (really Greenlanders)while they are there. This is an amazing culture. You will find them friendly and accomodating. Here you see a friend and me with a hunting party. Leave a Comment

Due to its geographical position as the northernmost village at Greenland's east coast, Ittoqqortormiit is very isolated. No roads, no passenger ferries, just a runway 50 miles away. The only way to get to the town is by helicopter. Living there for some weeks means to learn a lot about a different way of life. Leave a Comment

by sirpantsalot I don't think you will want to wander too far without launching an expedition. Shown is Thule with the base, the bay, bottle cap mountain in the bay and a few small icebergs. Leave a Comment

by ClaesDenmark The midnight sun can be encountered north of the Polar Circle. In Ilulissat, for example, the sun never sets from May 25th to July 25th. This period people have to live their live intensiveliy so that they better can come through the dark days. Groups of people sit on the rocks here and there, enjoying the never-ending sunlight. The winter darkness is the companion to the midnight sun, and equal fascinating. For weeks the sun doesn't rise above the horizon. The landscape is all white from the snow and the frozen sea.
