Visit Teotihuacan! Put aside a day for it and enjoy climbing the pyramids. It's simply breathtaking!
has it's own page now so the travelogue has been moved there.
Have a visit to the most must of Mexico city surroundigs: TEOTIHUACAN. Aztecs ruins where you will spend a whole day walking and climbing piramids.
Go and see the Pyramids, Teotihucan is the most famous and it is just north of the city, you can easely get there by bus. And about 2-3 hours drive near Puebla there is the worlds largest pyramide, the piramid of Cholula. You can't really tell it is an pyramid because the Spanish build a church on top of it and it is overgrown by plants, but you can get inside and walk through the tunnels, it is very impressing.
Fondest memory: The friendly people I met, with all the bad stories you hear about Mexico city, I met very nice and friendly people, the Mexicans are very friendly (except for the bad ones like every where else in the world
Favorite thing: Take a day trip to Teotihuacan! The ruins are absolutely mesmerizing. Our hotel arranged a cab for us that took us there and waited until we were done. Cab driver was one of the few people who spoke English and, as usual, tried to sell us something. Pyramid of the Moon has a better view, so if you are short on time – go to that one first.
You have to visit Teotihuacán, the place 'where people became Gods'.
It is the ancient city of the Aztecs with the famous pyramids of the Sun and the Moon.
Fondest memory: On the photo you see the back of the pyramid of the Moon. Not that impressive you think ???
When arriving, the first moment you don't recognize them. They just look like an ordinary hill amongst the others.
For pics of the Pyramids see the travelogue about Teotihuacan.
Favorite thing: Go to the Teotihuacan. There you will find Aztech ruins and pyramids. It is aproximatly 30-45 min from Mexico City and it is easy to find a shuttle which can take you there.
