Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Very nice to have in hot climates, but since they don't cover your feet completely, they might give sand fleas (chiggers) a chance to get a fresh place to lay their eggs. Not dangerous, but very icky. A pair of FLIP-FLOPS are o.k. as long as you don't walk too far in them. They don't last long. Great when you have to enter that filthy hotel bathroom. Other people have moved on to WATER SOCKS for that purpose.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear:
Very important. Only use good quality shoes!
SHOES/DRESS SHOES
RESISTANT SHOES/BOOTS are a god idea for a long trip. A bit expensive and hot, so if you travel in a hot climate, a pair of comfortable RUNNING or WALKING SHOES can be an alternative. If you are travelling by plane you might prefer BOOTS without steelcaps, since they beep at the metal indicators.
