Museo Nacional de las Culturas, Mexico City

The Museo Nacional de las Culturas is unique in Latin America because of its permanent exhibition of archeological and ethnological collections of foreign cultures. It is also unique in the world, because of the hitory of its collection, which developed as a result of Mexico's friendship wit other nations.
The building where it is housed is a magnificent exaample of barroque style with a large facade and a majestic patio.
Worth a look is also the huge inner facade with a modillion featuring an effigy of Philip V. A mural by Rufino Tamayo, called Revolución, is displayed on the ground floor next to the stair case.

The National Museum of Cultures is free, so it's worth a quick peek. I popped in and quickly realized that the museum's collection highlights world cultures and since I was here to explore Mexican culture, I didn't stay long. Originally, the building was Moctezuma's home and then in the 16th century, the Spanish used it as the Casa de Moneda (treasury) building.
