This double-decker tourist bus drives around the city and takes you to many of the most important places. One tour takes about 3 hours, but you can jump on and off the bus as many times as you like. This way you can explore some of the places on your own. There are some regular stops around the city, and buses comes about every 30 minutes.
You get a pair of earplugs and can choose to have the guidance in english or spanish. You also get a brochure with a map and different kind of coupons that you can use around the city.
The bus is a very good way of seeing the city, getting to know where things are and to learn more about the places. Many parts of the city are not so safe, and the bus is a great way of getting around town.
This double decker panoramic bus will take you to the best places in Mexico City. Headphones are provided so you can listen the history of each place you visit. Also you can get off the bus in the place you want and ride it again with the same ticket. A ticket will cost you US11. Really worth it!
I know the initial reaction... how dorky, let's not take that big, obnoxious, red doubledecker bus. Well reconsider, especially after you've walked for a long time and haven't even seen 1/4 of what Mexico City has to show you. It's not very expensive if you consider the cost of time going to all of these places on your own, and you can get off and get back on at any of the designated stops. This is a GREAT way to see Mexico City. I got some great photos and met some cool people. The only thing that may happen to you is that often traffic delays the buses a little, so you may be waiting at a designated stop for a while. But they're still worth it! Get some little snack or drink (or try and sneak some good drinks, haha), and go upstairs if it's not too crowded or cold. It's very fun!!!!
Even though I like to explore the city by myself, this time i opted to board The Turibus which takes you pretty much everywhere and is a Hop-on - Hop-off service around the city, By the way I decided not to get off, due to the tourists that invaded Mexico City this last easter season.
WE visited the nicest avenue in the city which is Paseo de la reforma, with greteast view to the buldings, Chapultepec park, Museum of modern art, museo INAH, papalote museo del niño, La feria(theme park), Polanco, Roma and La condesa Neighborhoods( amazing ), AV Mazarick with all the luxurius designer stores, Auditorio nacional,Museo de cera, all munuments along Paseo de la Reforma(cibeles, angel de la independencia, monumento a cuahtemoc etc), and of couse plenty of the Historic center(downtown). I strongly recommend this tour especially if you stay for a couple of days or so,, then later you decide what you like to do best and return there..
The best way to know the city is taking the Turibus (the red double deck bus), it has 25 diferent stops in main tourist places, you can go up and down as many times as you want. The main stop is located in front of Auditorio Nacional in Reforma.
Price are for 1, 2 or 3 days and depending on the days Monday to Friday or Saturday and Sunday
Adults (1Day) $100, (2days) $140, (3 days) $180
Child 4-12 (1) $50, (2) 70, (3)90
Adults 1) $115, (2) 155, (3)20
Child 4-12 (1) $55, (2) 75, (3)100
I can see that the Turibus is a good idea. But, they run their service until9pm and they mean 9, wherever they are and the clock strikes 9 - off you get. And as a female traveling alone, I wasn't that impressed to find myself in an area that I didnt know, unable to find my way back to my accommodation. Especially in Mexico City at night. I ended up catching a cab, at a cost of 200 pesos, but it was worth it to be back at the hostel safe and sound.
And, I would like to point out that I got on the bus at 6pm, but traffic was heavy. If only they had told us, I would have caught the metro. I would absolutely NOT recommend this service at all!
Turi Bus is a bus that takes you to the most important places in the city... Historic Centre, Reforma Avenue, Polanco neigborhood, Chapultepec Area, Condesa Neighborhood, it is a good chance to take a city tour only for 10 USD. You can take the bus in any of the 26 stops, i took it in the stop next to the Cathedral. The turibus will stop several times, you can descend in any of that stops and take the bus again during the whole day just with one ticket, don't remove the bracelet. The whole tour takes about 3 hours if you don't descend. It works from 9am to 9pm, monday to sunday (except 25th december and 1st january)
