The train station at Aguascalientes

Aguascalientes has always been an important transit center - whether for the silver caravans or for the burgeoning rail system. You can get some idea of the former importance of the railways here by looking at the granduer and the size of the rail station here. Time has passed the Mexican rail system by now, however. Trains are only a memory to Aguascalientes' past.

A Tlacuache in Aguascalientes

The Tlacuache is one of the strangest animals you'll ever see. My girlfriend's casa in Aguascalientes is in the rural part of the city.

One afternoon this animal just came strolling up to the house as an explorer often does.

The body was about 30cm long and the tail an equal length beyond that. To me it looks like a cross between an anteater and a rat!

IN the beaten path: El Encierro bronze sculpture (6 meter tall), just outside the bullfight ring. 7 bulls (1 ton each) and a rancher driving them to the corrida (bullfight). Great spot to take pictures.
