Around Algodones there are many places you can eat. Some street vendors just sell fish or shrimp tacos in the dust (many roads are unpaved). Or you can try some of the local restaurants. The photo shows one of the better restaurants where you get to sit down and be served. It has semi-outdoor seating, and it's constantly filled. I didn't try and don't remember its name. I only bought a local beer to cool down under the hot sun.

Favorite thing: The following is a list of stores you'll find in Algodones, in the order of popularity --
1. drug stores

3. optometry offices
4. barber shops
5. art works
6. restaurants
A typical American snowbird spends a day here to get their prescriptions filled, glasses and dental works done, get a haircut, have a relaxed meal, then shop some souvenirs before returning home.

Does anyone know the name of the Casino that is right there at the border crossing and has anyone stayed there?
