Went in to have a tooth removed. Big Mistake. Royal Dental has moved to a new office in the same building. She called me in to a room smaller than my clothes closet at home. The chair wasn't even bolted to the floor, so it wobbled every time I moved or she bumped into it. She took 2 hours, broke the tooth into pieces, eventually called in an oral surgeon to do the job and he was done in 3 minutes. She checked his work with this 'oh so that's how its done' look on her face. The next morning, I spit out a piece of my tooth that was left if my mouth. I checked in the mirror and found ANOTHER piece lodged in my gums where she had taken out the tooth. It's been 6 weeks and I still have pain where she pulled the tooth...makes me wonder if she screwed up something else. If you take anything from my write up, remember this... Royal Dental = NO.
It is just a matter of life for some locals to sit on the streets and sell what I would view as nasty pornographic type items (too embarrassing to describe) and the people there just seem to laugh about it and the street children (who sell home-made jewelry) just take it all in stride. In my opinion, it would be hard to be raised in that type of environment and not be affected somehow. However, I only saw local children on the streets. The U.S. folks did not seem to bring them there - which may be wise - because the street vendors think it is fun stuff to try to sell to you. My photo's are simply a part of the outdoor marketplace/ restaurant areas - and the infamous Green Door which others have said to stay away from. Otherwise, I bought a beautiful full leather travel bag for an embarrassingly cheap price so overall it was not all bad. It is just some of the side streets which are a little more off of the beaten path which have some of the not so great "street stuff"! When there you sort of get the feel for it.
Do not go to the Green-Door in Algodones Mexico, unless u want 2 be scammed out of ur money by the owner, & policia ( police ). The GreenDoor has a very bad reputation with the girls having H.I.V.! They don't regulate ANY of the girls health. There is NO health code. This means ur @ risk even if they only perform oral sex.
When I travel, I always ask locals if they could tell me one of the worst places to go to in there town to report blogs & protect U.S travelers.
Now here's my experience i would like 2 share about the police in Algodones. If u decide 2 go there 2 get prescriptions, dental work, or even souvenirs, don't stay past dark! You are @ high risk 2 be harassed & robbed by police as they did to me & my partner. They put my partner in jail for absolutely NO reason, then separated me from him, while they sexually violated & harassed me. As I finally convinced them to take me to where they were holding my partner, they finally agreed to let him go after I gave them all the money I had & my jewelry. I asked the police what we were being arrested 4, & they laughed. They had NO answer. I notice the local police targeting people coming from the Green-Door or near & around the outer area of THEGreenDoor. The cops seemed to be close friends with the doorman & owner.
More info u should know: Just because a club says the ladies have condoms at these sex clubs in Mexico, it doesn't mean they use them! A local told me that they promote condoms only if someone asks, just to get u in the door or there private rooms, due the growing AIDS epidemic in the area and Green-DOOR Club.
PLEASE men, save ur health & money by staying away from this Club & area of Algodonies. If u drink & they know uv been drinking, they can put u in jail even if u have had 1 beer. They WILL charge u 4 being under the influence in public. They make up there own laws to benefit themselves from their poor economy.
ALSO,please make sure u c ur dentist sterilize ALL equipment due 2 the growing aids epidemic in Algodonies area.
Algodones is a neet town to walk around in and shop, but there are a few things to watch out for. First, stay out of the local bars. Places like bar olimpico (the green door) and such are nothing more then dirty women for sale. While they tell you how safe it is, you really are taking way too many chances in these places. Another big item is giving someone a $20 and they come back with your change for a $10. Bottom line is you lose. There is no gold for sale in Algodones. No matter what they tell you, it's fake. During the winter months, Americans spend more then one million dollars a day in this town of 10,000 people. Don't be taken in or told how broke they are.
