A very clean place with a bright, well appointed dining area. Clean restroom.

Favorite Dish: The shrimp omelettes, tacos and burritos made with only "Open Ocean" Sea of Cortes shrimp are the best to be found anywhere.

El Rosario Warnings and Dangers

El Rosario is the location of the first gas station after the long trek through the boulder fields of Catavina. It's a welcome site, but beware, it's also a "speed trap" on Highway 1. The 90 degree turn of Highway 1 as you enter town is a favorite location for the Policia to hang out. Even the locals don't drive over the posted sped limit of 35km/hr.

Although the Municipal Police have no jurisdiction on the Federal Highways, ( this is the status of the paved road that passes through town ), they seem to love to stop the foriegn tourists to fine them. A language barrier seems to help facilitate this practice as well. It is well advised to obey the posted traffic signs while in this town.

Favorite thing: Baja's Best Cafe....A very clean and comfortable small restaurant located in a bright yellow building in the center of town. It features a nice selection of American style breakfasts as well as traditional Mexican foods. It is the only place I know of in Baja California featuring "Starbucks" coffee. The owners and staff are very friendly and English is spoken for your convenience. It is also a valuable source of toursit information and road conditions. As El Rosario is more of a place you pass through, instead of a tourist destination, Baja's Best Cafe is definately a, WORTH THE WAIT, eating spot.

Fondest memory: My best memories of El Rosario are the friendliness of the people and willingness of them to help a stranded traveller without taking advantage of them.
