If you are used to hikingin forested terrain, be extra careful hiking in Baja. There is no way you can judge slopes, steepness, distances and general ground conditions and obstacles such as canyons and cliffs with the sort of certainty you can in a forested landscape. You will underestimate everything. Moreover, the loose rock and gravelly, sandy ground will cause you to spend a lot more time per km walking distance than on firm ground and trails. Be preapred to give up and return to your starting point. Leave a Comment

Watch out for their awful quality (see my warnings and dangers section), but a lot of the small roads are beautiful. Take a trip along the coast, or into the mountains. But be prepared to move very, very slowly, and occasionally push the car if there's nasty mud. And be really careful of the bulls. Again, seriously, check out my warnings and dangers tip on this. we were not equipped with an off-road vehicle, but we sure tried to take on the dirt roads from El Rosario to the beach. the road got the best of us and were forced to turn back, but not before seeing some amazing country. if you are fortunate to have a truck on this road,go for it and let me know how it was!
