Villa Ortegas is one of the newer places to eat in Puerto Nuevo and I had never gone to eat here til now. On this trip we went down to Mexico with a few friends their kids, our kids and my sister's family.
This place is located all the way to the back of the little town and to the left. It is probably the biggest restaurant here. The views are spectacular and they are very accomodating to big parties. You can chose to eat inside, outside (covered patio), or on the lower level which I didnt even know exsisted. At the lower level you are practically on the water. The service is good but they are pretty busy. It is alittle more expensive here but not by much. I did notice that they serve alittle less food than at Chela's.
Favorite Dish: Besides the lobster, they are known for their fresh baked rolls filled with jalapeno spread. It is very good, even the kids liked it.
This place was good and I think most people woiuld really like it here, especially people that are alittle afraid to eat at the little hole in the walls. Although i more than likely would come back, i still prefer Chela's.
There are several Ortega's in PN, but the Patio has the best view. They will probably ask you what size you wnat...ask to see them. Usually, don't get the HUGE one. Not the best tasting and medium is usually best. Don't worry, you won't go hungry!
Everytime I go to Puerto Nuevo this place is always packed with people. The line usually goes right out the door and down the street. Personnaly I think there are too many good places to eat in Puerto Nuevo that i refuse to wait in that ridiculously long line. But apparently many people think that its worth the wait. Maybe some day I will try it, my curiosity might take the best of me.
We usually sit on the third floor and have an ocean view. The kids get crayons and a lobster coloring paper to color but it has become a tradition that when you come, you put whatever you want on the lobster and they will hang it on the ceiling.
Mariachis will usually come in and sing for you and play music, there will be photographers taking your picture if you want to purchase it.
The food is great and so is the service. They are kid friendly and also accommodate large groups.
As soon as you go throught he arched entry way into the town of Puerto Nuevo you will make a left on the first street and park. The restaurant is tot he right at the end of that street. Its hard to miss the three story, bright yellow building with El Gordo in the front.
The Lobster is huge fresh and affordable(very affordable) it comes with tortillas, rice and salsa.
Favorite Dish: The Lobster.
It is hugh and tasty
The home made quacamole and shrimp dip is to die for but make sure you save room for the giant lobsters. All at a very low price.
