CALAFIA RESORT

Pacific Coastline Cliff Resort

Drive to Calafia! Historic, cultural and touristic center.
A family resort hotel with ocean view suites, a cliffside restaurant, Club 1773--an old sailing vessel converted into a night club, history, music, conference center and ecological park.

Calafia is the official headquarters of the Historical Society of Rosarito, and of the Associations of writers of Tijuana, painters, sculptors, musicians and chefs of Baja California and it is an extension of the Mexican University campus of the regional cultural centers.

This is the place to go if you are looking for the quintessential Mexcan seaside resort. Even if you don't check-in, a drink with friends at one of the restaurant's terrace tables will fill you with the sense of being on a luxurious vacation at a fraction of the cost.

The picture is an Artist's rendition of Calafia, click for a better view.

The Pier

Inaugurated in 2000, this 500 yard pier is the lastest addition to the Rosarito Beach Hotel. Guests can enjoy a nice walk on the pier or do some fishing. The pier also offers a panoramic view of the city. Additionally, you can bird watch, possibly even catch a glimpse of the occasional pod of dolphins, and perhaps even see a whale.

A Festival in the Backyard

So we stayed at the Festival Plaza Hotel in Rosarito and in back of the hotel is like a mini-mini-mini theme park equipped with a ferris wheel, a rope bridge, a swimming pool, a bar, a snake looking thing (which I don't know what it's used for), and a concert area. Looks like it would be a fun place if people were actually there.
