 | Tijuana Tourist Traps | Tips 1 - 10 of 26 | | Yes I know Im going to get criticize for this tip, but, really the mexican goverment more than once have been doing campaign to try to stop tourist from giving children in the street money, why, it's simple. The more tourist give money to this children the more this children get exploted or abused. Yes they are poor and have big necessity and you feel sorry for them, but it's the parents responsablility to provide the support and children's right to go to school and stop being used. Probably many are in real need, but many are being used as is reported often in the news; there are many people that hire this children to ask for money at the streets and the childrens or children's family only receive a small percent of what the children receive from tourist charity. Plus when this children grow up they had learn the lesson than, study and work is not necessary, they can obtain money easily asking for it at the streets.
Please stop this children labor and abuse! Don't give them money.
If you really want to help because you feel sorry for them, you can give them food, toys or school supplies, I often do the first and ask them to study at school. Leave a Comment

If you get trapped in one of the Glorietas, just work your way to the right and when you get far enough to the edge of the speeding circle of cars go straight! The good news is that only one street offers the glorietas, Paseo de los Heroes--Hero's Pass--Another of the statutes you'll see in the center of a glorieta is Abraham Lincoln. Leave a Comment

While you are driving around Tijuana and decide to check out the shopping and sites in the Zona Rio, watch out for the GLORIETAS! Those big circles in the middle of the road. If you aren't from Paris or another place that has this kind of intersection, you might find yourself unable to get out of the circle. This picture is of the statute of Cualtemoc, the last Aztec Emperor of Mexico. When you see Cualtemoc you're about to enter a glorieta! Speaking of Emperors of Mexico, you may have heard of 'Montezuma's Revenge,' (an intestinal revolt against the germs living in Mexican tap water.) Don't drink the water from the taps. Water served in Tijuana restaurants is bottled--they can't afford to make their customers sick. I've never had problems with ice in my drinks either. Leave a Comment

Ave Revolucion is an experience that must be had. It is lined with souvenir shops and bars. Each owner has his or her own pitch to bring you in. Tijuana in general is a kind of over the top Tourist trap but that part of its charm Leave a Comment

Some of the people working in the markets and little shops can be really agrissive, they are very good at coning you into buying crap that you don't even want. I got pulled into a shop that i didn't want to go in to. The owner came out and put his arm around my neck and sorta pushed me into his store, as he was saying 'come into my store my american friend' all though i'm not a american. Once inside he would cover me in neckaces and chains and rings and he would not let me leave. Leave a Comment

Many under age go to TJ for the wild party in Ave. Revolution night clubs because you only need to be 18 yreas old to enter and drink alcohol. But Buy and use a false ID is a great mistake, no matter how easily people say it is, is illegal and you will be get big in big trouble. Don't Do it!!! Leave a Comment

I'm a sucker for these cheesy photographic opportunities...... I later heard that this is discouraged by many, because the donkeys are undernourished. Leave a Comment

yes, the majority of tourist say this the unique sight of tijuana, but are worng, the big problem is that the hassles of sellers, or club waiters always call tourist come here, beggars and taxis are anther people who sometimes intimididate to tourists, and in spring break some teens go to here to get drunk even at daylight so is not to reconmeded go whit the children at that time of the year Other bad thing of this the revolucion street is located in the area where the crime is high, fourtunaly the police was make the revolucion street safe at daylight and night is a bit safe, but try stay away near from the calle primera at night who is very near of the zona norte the red district.
But if you deside go to revolucion i recomend go to the Jai Alai area, and the daylight hours. and whit half-hour to hour of view, you can move to view other sights of Tijuana. Try negociate the price if you want buy a souvenir.

I had to wait in a very looong (half a mile, one kilometer or so) line to San Ysidro border checking point on my way back to the USA. It took me about 40-50 minutes - hmm... not so bad at all.
Put your head in a shadow - look, they built special cover for waiting people. Look around - there are a lot of interesting things/people including street vendors.
Hmm... stay in Mexico :-))). Somebody advised me to rent a bicycle on Mexican side of the border, cross the border on a bicycle (fast lane) and give the bicycle back on the USA side - hmm... I didn't know that. E-mail me please how does it work whenever you try it, please! Leave a Comment
