The tourist trap IS Tijuana -- you begin encountering it at the moment you cross the border. Remember that this is being written by someone with deep affection for Mexico and C. America. We walked over, passing through Immigration in San Diego, and the 'walk of shame' (as it became known in short order) was one endless parade of pathetic hawkers whose merchandise set the tone for the shabby afternoon.
Do you crave donkeys painted as zebras? You'll love Tijuana -- and you'll treasure the photo taken next to the ass. But then, which one is which?

I later heard that this is discouraged by many, because the donkeys are undernourished.
