Don't Shop in Town when Cruise Ships are Docked!
If you're planning to head in to "downtown" Cabo San Lucas to do a little shopping, make sure you go on a day when the cruise ship is not in town. Most of the stores and markets do not mark prices on their items and will bargain with you, however when the cruise ship is in town, the bargaining becomes harder and the prices seem to go up. You can ask your hotel front desk when ships are expected to come in, or take a look at the beach toward the Arch. You won't miss it coming in or seeing it docked and obstructing the view of the Arch
Budget Car Rental-HUGE SCAM
BUDGET CAR RENTAL IS A SCAM AVOID AT ALL COSTS! THEY CHARGED ME AN EXTRA DAY + INSURANCE FOR AN HOUR AND DID NOT TELL ME OR EMAIL ME A RECEIPT AS PROMISED. THEY ARE A JOKE. They display there rates as a reasonable price and than force you to buy all these extra things and make you sign a blank receipt! They are rude and won't even send me a receipt of what I was charged for. They brought me a car that had holes in the seats with dings all over and when I complained the guy went off on me in Spanish. They are horrible and will steal your money! STAY FAR AWAY
Unique Suggestions: I recommend using taxis and of course agree on a rate before getting in them.

Music Players at the Restaurants
*Everytime we sat down to eat, at some point during the meal Mexican musicians came by to play music/sing.
*They do expect a tip, so if you're not interested, you should let them know right away
*The trips I have taken with girls, they tend to enjoy this, so giving the musicians a buck or two was alright...just a heads-up
Paying to take a picture??? I think not
A couple times on our trip in Cabo we came across some people with some sort of animal on their shoulder or what not. Sometimes there would be a large lizard or even a little fox, we were about to take a picture when the people told us that we had to pay to take a picture! So we snuck one in once and then the other time we just gave in coz the fox was so cute.
Oh, sure, they're a tourist trap. Those beach vendors love us Spring Breakers. But for a temporary fix for body art, you can't beat a $10 temporary tattoo.
Unique Suggestions: Barter! No price is fixed in Mexico, and every vendor is selling the exact same things. Keep looking if you want to pay less...
Silver on the beach...
On the beach, traders will offer you silver rings, bracelets etc... Think about this is fake silver.
Also they offer you T-shirts, dresses, etc... Think about that the qualities of those are not so fine, but you pay less then in the shops...
Fun Alternatives: There are several silver shops in town. Just check some out and compare the prices for to find the best deal.
T-shirts is more difficult as the sale bad quality ones in town too. Ask your wife or girlfriend what is the best quality before buying :o)
Cabo San Lucas...
In fact, whole Cabo San Lucas is a tourist trap. This place is not more or less special then other beach places in Mexico. The only thing it has more is the expensive prices you have to pay here for everything. Now, this all is the fault of the many tourists (95% Americans, 2% Japanese, 2% Europeans and 1% Mexicans) who throw with their money like hell. As long tourists will pay what the traders ask, how higher the prices will go in the near future.
Example: One package of cigarettes cost in Mexico (general) 11 Pesos. In Cabo Can Lucas you can get them on "a special price" of US$ 25 by box (10 packages) what makes 28 Pesos by package!?!?!
For the non smokers; Bottled water, eggs, soft drinks, beers, etc... you will pay as well the double or more. This supermarket (see picture) in town is the cheapest, but still overpriced...
Fun Alternatives: If you have a refrigerator and a kitchen in your hotel you can go best for shopping in Soriana. This supermarket is just out of town on the road to Todos Santos. We went there to buy milk, beers, cigarettes, bacon, and eggs to prepare breakfast. Here you will pay the normal prices...
