Todos Santos
About 60 miles west of La Paz across the desert is the town of Todos Santos. It is a cute little artist's colony with a fair number of American expats on the Pacific coast. It is much cooler than La Paz, about 10 F on any given day. It has some touristy trinket stands and a few nice restaurants and a cute little church. The beach north of there is deserted and open for a relaxing day of nothingness.

It is home of the famous Hotel California, supposedly where the song was inspired (more likely not). A pleasant day away from La Paz or Los Cabos, well worth the trip.

Where the sea meets the desert
Isla Cerralvo - Isla Espiritu Santo

Drive out of town to the north and the east, either will do. At the end of the road, there is the deepest blue water separating you from a gorgeous deserted island. The beach has a few palapas and a bar, but is otherwise all for yourself. Stop, look for shells, crack open a beverage of your choice, and realize that there is beauty in this old world.
