Sunday morning market
  • Tip Rating:
  • The "Farmer's Market" in Loreto is a must see event. Everything from fresh beef (some cut from the hanging cow), fruit and vegetables, to new and used sneaker, tools, etc.

Located in an arroyo just south of town, this draws hundreds of people on Sunday (used to be Saturday but it changed days).

    A road less traveled
The description provided was.... go to the Malecon, turn left and go about 5 KM; don't worry about the road when it turns to dirt...

HA...What a trip. Unfortunately we arrived too late to partake but next time...

A road less traveled - San Javier
The road to San Javier is an adventure. Approximately 3 KM south of Loreto on Hwy 1 a right turn will start you on your journey. The first 3 KM are newly paved and quite smooth. Then, the fun begins.... the remaining 30 or so KM are a 15-20 KM/Hr ride unless you are driving a truck with descent suspention.

My first choice of transport would be a Bell Ranger; next a Nato equiped HummVee; then a US equiped H2 and last on the list, and not recommended, would be a rental car (ok guess which I had to endure).

The drive, while difficult for the novice in an ill equiped vehicle, was incredibly beautiful. The arrival was equally incredible. This site is considered the best origianlly preserved ediface in the CA Misssion trail.
