by Patriquin Willya look at these babies?!! Go the EL CABANA DEL PESCADOR, IN COZUMEL. When you get off the ferry, get a taxi, go left a couple of miles from town. Very famous. Out front is a dune buggy with a giant cartoon model lobster. It opens around 6:30 & waiting for it to open, in the beach front restaurant across the street we had giant fishbowl margaritas and watched an incredible sunset. If I recollect right - remember the margarita factor here amigos, the restaurant is kinda several linking rooms, some joined by little hanging bridges, duck ponds, fish ponds, neat wall hangings, very friendly staff. You go pick your lobsters - we picked giant/post nuclear/ alien/NBA/sumo lobsters, they weigh them and figure out the price per pound. That's the price of your complete dinner - which included potatoes, rice dish, salad, flan. Ours was $60 US - a steal for the meal, atmosphere. Then the owner brought a Crown Royal Whiskey bottle of homemade banana rum cream liquer, with 2 leetle teeny ceramic mugs. Delicious and when we asked for more, he just plonked the bottle down! Not being shy, (actually being squiffy) we finished that off! And you get to keep the mugs. Recommended this to friends and they had the identical experience. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Cactus Steakhouse by Cabana_Boy Although the name isn't too original, Cactus is one of the better steakhouses in Carmen. Choice cuts of Mexican beef is available for selection and cooked to specification. The juicy steaks are then bought to the table on little habachi style grills to keep them hot... Bottomline, the beef was good, particularly the ribeye and the Tequila wasn't bad either...but alas, my experience was mared by the attitude of one of my travel companions, but that's not the restaurant's fault and there's really nothing one can do about the cock rojas.... Chicken lunch in el Jaguar by Umfufu The guys wanted to have something with a bite so they took the chicken in / with a peanutsauce. It didnt look for a bit like the chicken we serve in the Netherlands like that, but the guys told me it was great.

Owner of El jaguar by Umfufu Its a tipical Mexican tourist restuarant, but with a black cat and a Mayan coock. You can have a nice meal there but for a normal prize (like in Europe). We have been there several times, although just one time for a meal. The toilets are a bit durty. And i think it was first the restaurant of a Hotel (there is one next door, hotel that is) but maybe they are sepperate now, cause we were the only ones and it didnt look as if it was very bussy (ever).
We had some local burritos and the men had a indian sate (chicken with peanutsause). Its was alright, but what i liked the most were the "dorito's" with the garlic dip....wow ! Leave a Comment

As i said we didnt had a meal here, but as most of the places you can get the burritos and other real mexican things. Dont worry there is always something you like. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: 5th AvenueDirections: On the left side of the street (boulevard)

Mc Donalds Playa del Carmen by Umfufu Its a bit a strange mac somparing to the ones we have at home. The diner taste different too, although Mac himself says that it should taste the same all over the world. Dont thy the touliets...and there is an awful smell of cimenon all over the place. We have found two Mc Donald restaurants in Playa del Carmen, there is one on a square near the beach and one near the ferry to Isla du Cozomel.
We had an Big Meal, but had to pay for the drinks...a meal wasnt including the drinks. We were a little hungry so it was alright, but you better can go to a Mexican restaurant. Much better taste !! Leave a Comment

El Reataurante de Samba Grill by gringoft This is by far the best to place to eat. They just keep brining you meat and if you want it you just say “Si” and you got it. They also have nice selection of wines and tequila’s. Gotta get the Don Julio’s when you are there. The infamous Bistek tacos of Carmen by Cabana_Boy I know that's saying a lot for such a small town in a non-descript location of Mexico....but just think about it....there are no tourists in Carmen, only locals and those expats relocated here to extract oil and you know they'll eat anything. And so it goes, the locals make their tacos to their taste and everyone is happy. Try any taco stand around town and I am sure you'll agree... My favorite stand is the one across from the Super San Francisco grocery store...
