What to buy: The Zapatisitas (Zapatisita Army of National Liberation, EZLN) are a revolutionary group located in Chiapas that has a lot of the same ideals as other revolutionary groups. Against global corporation and power to the local indigenous population. Subcomadante Marcos is their military leader and spokesperson but not the overall grand poobah of the organization. They went public in 1994 to protest NAFTA which didn't result in much. They have for the time being stopped using since their initial uprising resulted in the Mexican military coming down on them pretty hard. Now they try to spread their word by the internet and NGOs.

Like other revolutionaries and revolutionary groups, merchandise has been made of them. I don't know if any of the money goes to support them or not but I'm sure it does at some places. From where I was I mostly saw postcards and tshirts. I'm sure there is more out there. It's an interesting souvenir to say the least and a good present for that junior revolutionary.
