Basaseachi Waterfall

by Haditos

This Waterfall is the highest in Mexico, and it's on the top 10 around the world, it's located in Baseasachi town in the road that goes from Chihuahua to Hermosillo. It's inside a protected park where you can find food and cabins to stay. There are like 5 view points in the waterfall from the top, all of them have a beauty view of it. If you have good condition you can climb down to the bottom of the waterfall, where the views are great too. Be ready to speand at least 5 hours there if you go down, we did 1.5 hours to go down and 2.5 hours to go up again, plus the rest time above and below to relax. There is a view point from the top of the waterfall, where you can almost touch the falling water on the side.

Monk's Valley at Creel

by Haditos

This valley is the most expectacular near Creel, it isn't offered very offen by the tours around because it's farter than all other valleys and it's on the opossite direction, but it's very recomendable to visit it. The valley is formed by very high rock formations(like 30m high) and all of them have the shape of Monk's. We went at the sunset and the look was beautyfull, with all the rock towers in the landscape.

Cusarare Waterfall

by Haditos

This waterfall is like 22Km from Creel, and it's worth to go there, even is not as tall or spectacular, it has its charm. To go there, you need to take the road to Cusarare town, once you passed the road to the town you will see signaling to the waterfall, you'll find a road to the right that goes to an hotel and to the waterfall, there is a parking lot near the waterfall and you must walk like 5 to 10 minutes to get to the waterfall, you can see it from the top or you can climb down to see it from the bottom.

Frogs and Mushroom Valley At Creel

by Haditos

This is a unique place where you can see rock formations in different shapes, some are like frogs and some like Mushrooms, the valley is like 5 minutes in car from Creel. And you can walk easily through it.

Walking around in Divisadero

by Haditos

The best way to enjoy the copper canyon is walking, even if you stay in one single point you can see the expectacular landscape. But i think is better to walk around, there are little forrests around the cliffs, and the views are very nice. You can see a lot of Tarahumara people in this place, all dressed with their traditional clothes, specially the women.

Scenic railway tour across Central Mexico

by SomeCdnGuy

Chihuahua el Pacifico (CHEPE) railway. This is the most scenic railway trek in the western hemisphere. It goes all the way from Chihuahua in central Mexico to Los Mochis on the west coast, taking a full day (early till sometimes LATE!) for the full trip. We opted to stop in el Divisadero (halfway or so) and stay there. The train we were on had to stop in a small town that it usually doesn't stop in, and we had a few hours to kill there. Got to have a taste (figuratively and literally) of Mexico, and loved every minute. Fantastic scenery, and even more fantastic people. This is in the Copper Canyon, which is 4 times the size of the Grand Canyon, and 1.5 times as deep. Look over the cliff at Divisadero and you'll know... We took the train to Divisadero (kind of a touristy stop, but very small) and took the bus back to Chihuahua for around 1/3 the cost ($20 or so) and it was faster than the...

Colina Lake

by EmilioR

At 15 kilometers of San Francisco de Conchos is located the so called Lago Colina that actually is a dam built in the decade of 1920 to control the Rio Conchos. The lake possesses great beauty and lightens the arid vision of the desert. It is nowadays a hotspot for tourism in the state. It offers various hotels, leisure centers, restaurants and other tourist services. In the lake the fishing of black bass, trout, catfish and other species can be practiced. Besides, this fish can be found in exquisite meals at the restaurants that are located at the shore. It is also possible to rent a motor boat and practice various water sports such as ski.

San Francisco de Conchos

20 kilometers west of Camargo by highway, this small community is located. A former religious mission, it still has its ancient temple in pristine condition. Built in a sober style, it is a good example of colonial art.9 km away is located the community of La Boquilla which houses 1,500 inhabitants. It is placed at the foot of the La Boquilla Dam or Lago Toronto one of the great dams of Chihuahua built in the 20´s decade to generate electricity.Close to La Boquilla is located an impressive thermal spring named Los Filtros, throughout which a system of swimming resorts has been built. The spring emerges of a rocky front named El Nacimiento and forms a creek of warm water that runs for a kilometer before losing itself in the Conchos river. Throughout this kilometer is the series of swimming resorts that offer all necessary services for an outdoors party: BBQ grills, camping areas, grocery...

Cuarenta Casas

by EmilioR

To the north of Ciudad Madera, 50 kilometers by the highway that leads to La Norteña is located another archeological site of first importance in the region and one of the most visited, second only to Paquime. Its name is Cuarenta Casas, built inside of the Cueva de la Ventana (the window cave) also by the inhabitants of Paquime culture. The cave is at the middle of a cliff at the gorge of the Arroyo del Garabato and to get to it an hour walk through a path that descends to the creek and goes back up is necessary. The whole site consists of 15 houses, some of them two stories high. All of them are built in earth brick and date back to the XIII century, when Paquime was at its peak. The rooms have been restored and arranged to receive visitors without altering their archeological value

La Zona del Silencio (the silence zone)

by EmilioR

Chihuahuas mysterious, magical zona del silencio--the Zone of Silence, just four hundred miles away from El Paso, Texas. Deserts are often considered to be mysterious enough without the added weirdness that this patch of earth some four hundred miles from El Paso has to offer. It is a place which gobbles up radio and TV signals, and which has of late been asociated with the UFO phenomenon.Very little information is available about the area before 1970, but there are stories of farmers in the area reporting that "hot pebbles" falling from a clear sky pelted their land. The area also has a reputation for attracting meteorites. The Museum of Mineralogy of the University of Rome has a sample of a type of meteorite known as a hexahedrite from the Bolson de Mapimi. This meteorite has been known since 1837 and it weighed at least 2064 kg. The Zone's modern notoriety can be traced to July, 1970,...
