Manzanillo was my favorite Mexican city during this vacation. The one detractor was the belching smoke from the power plant stacks downtown. Fortunately, the wind was predominately from the ocean inland and I was staying at a hotel far up the beach from downtown. The smoke was merely a blemish in the sky as opposed to an annoyance.

Slap on the SUn Block for sure when you are here. The sun is strong and you can easily burn. We always travel with plenty of sunblock since I am extremely white and Liz has a family history of melanoma.

I've been here twice and loved it. Hot,sunny all the time - diving good, but not great _ vis & water temp not quite perfect, but lots to see.
Before the spanish colonization not much happened at Manzanillo, the place was unhabited by several groups of indians from wich not much is known, their cities and tombs, as far as I know, have not......
Manzanillo is five and half hour south of Puerto Vallarta but has fewer tourist and nicer beaches.
