Look at the local policemen... aren't they cute?!
They don't look really aggressive or impressing but they certainly look pittoresque and even cute. You will see them riding their horses around the streets in downtown and the central park, and I'm sure their main goal is to guide and inform tourists & people in general rather than prevent crime: since San Miguel is so safe I don't think they would need that..... I loved their outfit and relaxed appearance.

Promenade in El Jardin Principal
El Jardin Principal is located across the street from La Parroquia. These trees are on the outer perimeter of El Jardin.
In the evening, you can listen to wandering mariachis. On Saturday evenings the famous promenade of young people takes place, accompanied by music. The boys walk around the perimeter of the Jardin in one direction, and the girls in the other. Parents keep a wary eye from the benches.
