This restaurant serves breakfasts and lunches (and even dinners) in a cozy courtyard near the Parroquia. I enjoyed the chilaquiles verdes for breakfast. Food is simple, hearty, and decently priced. The atmosphere is relaxing with a central fountain and birds singing from cages.

Bugambilia is a beautiful Mexican restaurant near the Jardin. Although the interior is lovely, the courtyard is filled with star-lights and the sounds of live mariachi music. The food is very good as is the service. I enjoyed la sopa azteca, the filete, and also the fajitas.

Azafran is a stylish restaurant in the center of San Miguel that serves Mediterranean fusion cuisine. The white walls provide a classic backdrop for elegant tables and amazing dishes. The service is exquisite. Everything I ate was delicious and I would love to go back to try the other menu items.
Highly recommended for an elegant/romantic evening out.

Conveniently located near the Jardin on Mesones, this Chinese restaurant is a refreshing stop after a long day of shopping or sight-seeing.
Expect slow service, but the food is worth the wait. Nice courtyard appearance, and while you are waiting for your food, there is a really nice CHOCOLATE store inside the courtyard area. Yum!
Favorite Dish: I had the Teriyaki Chicken. It was WONDERFUL.

Hmm, I am in this restaurant and am reading a copy of Vanity Fair. Hmm. Gee, look at this decor. Heavens, I must be in Boston! Or New York! Or...or...Portland, Maine. But the staff speaks Spanish. How curious. El Tomato is a small cafe serving vegetarian food (including some fish dishes) at decent, but San Miguel-ish, prices. The burgers are not of burger consistency, but they are surprisingly tasty.
Favorite Dish: Try one of the Hawaiian burgers--piña, cheese, burger (pieces keep falling off!), and a nice whole wheat roll. Also, the agua fresca del día is generally a good bet.

Be sure to sit on the roof top patio and watch the sunset. The food was all great and each entree was enough for 2 people.
Favorite Dish: The eggplant parmasean was just great. It was so good that I ordered it both times we went.

Mama Mia's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is delicious and the setting is beautiful. After dinner, you can go to Mama's Bar and dance to live salsa music.
Highly recommended for food, decor and fun.

We ate dinner one night at our hotel, Casa de Sierra Nevada. The cuisine is international and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for more formal dining.
The restaurant has both a beautiful indoor dining room and a charming courtyard/patio.
Favorite Dish: One dish that particularly stands out is a superb cream of garlic and onion soup. In fact, it was so good, I asked the chef for the recipe 4 times. Each time he said "Come back in __ (2, 4, 12 hours, tomorrow, fill in the blank) and I will have it for you." Each time I came back, it wasn't ready for me. Finally, when we checked out, the chef took my address and said he would mail it.
We are still waiting.
